PLEIN AIR DOWN UNDER 2022 FESTIVAL PROGRAM AT A GLANCE
There are many activities during September, highlighted by the festival weekend:
PRE-FESTIVAL
10 September: Official exhibition opening Alcoa Mandurah Art Gallery, inside Mandurah Performing Arts Centre
10 & 11 September – International World-Wide Paint Out, Mandjar Square Mandurah
This global event is in its 20th year, with the aim of having many plein air artists painting, all around the world, at the same time.
19 & 20 September: Tiffanie Mang Gouache Masterclass, studio and en plein air
Finding Freedom with Limitation.
In this two-day Masterclass, Tiffanie will be sharing the power of creating thumbnail studies from a limited palette.
20 September: Explore Peel Paint Out #1. Location TBA
21 & 22 September: Leon Holmes Oil Painting Masterclass, en plein air
The Fundamentals of Plein Air.
In this two-day Masterclass, Leon will be focusing on perspective and scale, lights and darks, tonal values, colour mixing and a myriad of oil painting tips and tricks.
22 & 23 September: Tiffanie Mang Gouache Masterclass, studio and en plein air
The Power of Harnessing Greys.
In this two-day Masterclass, Tiffanie will show how to harness and transform any grey, to be able to see past the colour and understand the relationships between hues.

Day: Explore Peel Paint Out #2. Location TBA
Evening: Artists Meet & Greet in the gardens of the Leon Holmes Gallery

FESTIVAL WEEKEND
24, 25 and 26 September – Plein Air Down Under Festival Weekend
Each day will have a dedicated festival footprint, easily visible and accessible to the public.
Festival weekend activities include:
- Painting for all skill levels and ages
- Feature artist demonstrations
- Community art activities
- Multiple exhibitions
- Judging, awards and presentations
- Opportunities for artists to sell their artwork
- Two-hour Quick Draw painting competition
- Evening festivities and nocturne paint outs
- Wearable Art Mandurah models in the landscape
