Leon is an international award-winning plein air artist, lecturer and ambassador.
He paints from life on location, without the aid of photography, using his small studies as reference for larger studio works created in his home studio in Mandurah.
A professional artist since 2003, Leon paints outdoors in the old masters’ style of impressionistic realism. He works in oil to quickly capture natural light and colour.
Born and raised in Perth, Leon’s career started with a wide range of artistic fields including Printmaking, Graphic Design, Art Direction, Illustration and Photography.
“Exploring the planet, a small box of paints, a few brushes and a rag, making marks with colour, seeing the beauty on offer…simply gratitude for life.”
Leon’s first Masterclass has sold out, and there is now a second two-day Masterclass option: LEON HOLMES STUDIO OIL PAINTING MASTERCLASS.
WHEN: Tuesday 28 and Wednesday 29 September, following the Plein Air Down Under festival weekend.
